Item Group has formed Ximedica, a wholly owned subsidiary to specialize in contract design, development and manufacturing of innovative medical devices. Ximedica was launched from Item’s growing medical device practice to offer single-source, concept-to-supply services.

Ximedica works with medical device companies to commercialize new technologies, to improve human factors for providers and patients and to innovate new solutions that allow for improved care and better economics. The company’s core competencies include integrated design, development and engineering services as well as offshore sourcing, U.S. assembly, quality control, and packaging.

Ximedica CEO is Bob Pelletier, who has 25 years experience bringing profitable new medical products to market. Pelletier will lead a team that includes design, mechanical and electrical engineering, and manufacturing personnel. The new firm will benefit from shared R&D, overseas sourcing and domestic assembly resources of its parent company and will be housed in new Item Group corporate headquarters in Providence, Rhode Island, U.S.
