Mumbai, India-based appliance and consumer electronics maker Videocon Industries Ltd. received Bombay High Court approval for its merger with EKL Appliances Ltd., formerly Electrolux Kelvinator Ltd., according to media reports in India.

Videocon acquired the Electrolux Kelvinator business in India last year. As part of the 2005 purchase agreement, Videocon gets the use of the Electrolux brand name in India for 5 years and use the Kelvinator brand in India and selected markets for an unlimited time.

Reports say the merger with EKL will be official when Videocon files the court order with Mumbai's Registrar of Companies.
