Vaillant GmbH's supervisory board appointed Dieter Müller as deputy managing director. The Management Board of Vaillant GmbH now consists of Müller (pictured) and Claes Göransson.
Müller takes the place of Michel Brosset, who resigned from the Management Board on Jan. 31, 2007, leaving the company in amicable mutual agreement. He had been a member of the board since 2000.
The operational business of Vaillant Group will continue to be managed by the Group Executive Committee, composed of six managers. Dieter Müller is responsible in this management team for Manufacturing. Claes Göransson heads the Group Executive Committee.
Müller studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University in Darmstadt and joined Vaillant in 1992, where his responsibilities included building up operations in Eastern Europe. He has been responsible for manufacturing across the group since the end of 2004.
New China Plant
Vaillant also officially opened its new production plant in the Eastern Chinese city of Wuxi. The plant will initially have about 100 employees building wall-hung, gas-fired heating appliances for the Southeast Asian markets.
"The opening of the plant is an element of our global growth strategy," said Göransson at the opening ceremony in Wuxi. "We are producing outside Europe for the first time – in a rapidly growing market with great potential for state-of-the-art, individual heating technology. This means Vaillant Group is further expanding its worldwide leading market position in its core business of wall-hung heating appliances."
Vaillant invested about 10 million euros (approx. U.S. $13 million) in the Wuxi plant, which is expected to have annual production of 10,000 appliances. Capacity can be expanded to produce 200,000 units annually to meet demand.
