Miele Laundry Appliances Bring Home Two Design Awards Feb 16, 2007

Miele's new laundry care series was awarded two design prizes. First, the W 4000 (pictured) washing machine series won second place, from a field of 330 entrants, in the Focus Energy competition, organized by the Stuttgart (Germany) Design Centre. Focus Energy had more 2,293 products in 12 product categories.

Three Miele appliances also received the 2007 iF product award: a washing machine from the W 4000 series, a tumble dryer from the T 7000 series and the Softtronic W 4449 WPS LiquidWash washing machine. In this competition, the appliances were judged on the product design as well as user-friendliness, innovation, ergonomics, quality, and ecological aspects.

Miele said the W 4000 and T 7000 series are markedly different from their predecessor products, with a bowed door that visibly protrudes from the arched front panel. On tumble dryers, the traditional rectangular door was redesigned into a round door matching the washing machine.
