People: Dan D. Sandman of U.S. Steel Corporation Jan 9, 2007

Dan D. Sandman, U.S. Steel Corporation’s vice chairman, chief legal and administrative officer, general counsel and member of the company’s board of directors, has elected to retire. Stephan K. Todd, vice president of law and environmental affairs, has also elected to retire. James D. Garraux has been elected general counsel and senior vice president of labor relations and environmental affairs. Garraux will join the company’s executive management committee. Thomas W. Sterling, senior vice president of human resources and business services, was elected senior vice president of administration. Terrence D. Straub, senior vice president of public policy and governmental affairs, will report directly to company chairman and CEO John P. Surma. Craig D. Mallick was elected secretary of the corporation and will report to Garraux.
