Gorenje, d.d., has announced that it purchased from Probanka, d.d., a 23.4 percent share in the company Surovina, d.d., Maribor, that effectively translates into 51 percent of all shares in Surovina, d.d. With this purchase, in total amount of 5,797,841 euros (approx. U.S. $7,495,173), Gorenje is continuing the strategy of strengthening its role in the area of environmental protection, which is in accordance to the implementation of the directive on the recycling of electronic and electrical waste (WEEE Directive).
Also, the Gorenje company Kemis, d.o.o., Zagreb, Croatia, signed the purchase agreement of 100 percent share in Termoclean, d.o.o., Zagreb, Croatia.
The environmental protection and energy business area has been identified in the Gorenje Strategic Plan as a business activity with notable growth potential. The goal is to provide the market with comprehensive solutions when it comes to the management of waste, in particular to industrial users in Slovenia and in the markets of SE Europe.
