Turkish appliance OEM Arçelik has big plans in the Czech Republic, according to comments by Beko brand regional manager Orhan Sayman to Interfax Central Europe recently. Sayman said Arçelik wants Beko to own 10 percent of the Czech white goods appliances market by year's end 2008. That will mean taking share from its primary competitors in the Czech Republic: Indesit (Italy), Ardo (Italy), Fagor (Spain), Gorenje (Slovenia), and Electrolux (Sweden) brand Zanussi.
Another Arçelik brand, Elektra Bregenz, recently won 5 awards during the 2006 Plus X design competition. The awards ceremony was held in Düsseldorf, Germany, and was attended by 650 members of the consumer technology industries. The awards were presented by Plus X design competition creator Donat Brandt.
Elektra Bregenz brand won “Innovation” and “Ecology” rewards for its KFS 8335 C refrigerator, and won in the “Design” and “Ease of Use” categories with its BEP 8090 C built-in oven. A total of eight awards in four categories were given in the household appliances group. Elektra Bregenz also won a “Most Innovative Brand” award.
The KFS 8335 C refrigerator is designed with a unique system "ionizer" system to extend food life by as much as three times. The producer says this is accomplished by purifying the air inside the appliance to eliminate bacteria and odor. The BEP 8090 C built-in oven stores up to 36 recipes that can be recalled by the user with the push of one button.
