Each family in cities and towns of China owns three or four kinds of small household appliances on average, which is far less than the 37 kinds in Occident countries, according to a new report from research firm Research in China. The China Small Household Appliance Market Report 2006 said the lifecycle of small household appliances is usually only 3 to 6 years. With at least 2.6 million Chinese families moving into new houses every year, the growing demand rate for small house appliances may exceed 30 percent annually over the next 2-3 years.
China’s small household appliance output has been maintaining a rapid growth since 2005. The report said that during January to October 2005 the production of dishwashers accumulated to 0.68 million units, an increase by 69.05 percent compared to the same period of 2004; the production of water heaters and electric rice cookers grew to 5.98 million and 39.33 million respectively, up 41.58 percent and 40.33 percent compared to the same period of 2004.
This report probes into the market scale and prospects, demand and supply, production and sale of China’s small household appliance industry on the basis of data from National Bureau of Statistics of China, National Economy and Trade Committee, China Light Industry Center, China Commercial Information Center, and China Household Appliance Association.
