For the 3 months ended Dec. 31, South Korea-based LG.Philips LCD reported a net loss of 174 billion won (approx. U.S. $187 million), compared with a net profit of 328 billion won (approx. $353 million) posted a year earlier.
A seasonal boost in demand helped the company post a smaller fourth-quarter loss than the previous quarter's net loss of 321 billion won (approx. $345 million). Operating loss was also trimmed by half to 177 billion won (approx. $190 million) from the third quarter's 382 billion won (approx. $411 million), but swung from a year-earlier operating profit of 334 billion won (approx. $359 million).
