Ho Chi Minh City showed an industrial production value of nearly 109 trillion VND (approx. U.S. $6.82 billion) in the first 5 months of 2006, for a 12.8 percent year-on-year increase, according to Vietnamese news agency VNA.
Appliances were among the products showing substantial growth rates, at 43.3 percent.
The foreign-invested sector rose to nearly 42 trillion VND (approx. $2.63 billion), for an increase of 18.7 percent, and electrical appliances was the biggest-gaining category at 56.6 percent.
