iRobot Corp. said today it has sold more than 2 million Roomba(R) Vacuuming Robots, making Roomba one of the best-selling consumer robots in history.
"With over 2 million units sold, it is clear that the iRobot Roomba is not a boutique purchase or limited to holiday impulse buying," said Dan Kara, president, Robotics Trends.
"This achievement signifies that more and more consumers are adopting robots in their everyday lives," said Greg White, executive vice president and general manager, iRobot.
Since its introduction in 2002, the Roomba has earned the Good Housekeeping Seal as well as industry notice such as Time Magazine's Coolest Inventions and Popular Science's Best of What's New awards. iRobot (Burlington, Massachusetts, U.S.) offers five Roomba models at U.S. $150 to $330.
