Helen of Troy Reports Q3 Results Jan 9, 2007

Helen of Troy Limited, designer, developer and worldwide marketer of brand-name personal care and household consumer products, today reported sales and net earnings for the third quarter ended Nov. 30, 2006.

Third quarter sales increased 8 percent to U.S. $213.4 million versus sales of $197.5 million in the same period of the prior year. Third quarter earnings before income taxes increased 7 percent to $25.5 million from $23.8 million in the prior year quarter. Third quarter net earnings were $22.8 million or $0.72 per fully diluted share, compared to $22.7 million or $0.72 per fully diluted share for the same period a year earlier, an increase in net earnings of 1 percent.

Sales for the 9 months ended Nov. 30, 2006 increased 8 percent to $491.1 million versus $455.2 million for the previous year. Net earnings for the first 9 months of this year were $40.4 million or $1.28 per diluted share, versus $42.7 million, or $1.34 per share in the same period of last year. Third quarter earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) increased 8 percent to $33.0 million versus $30.6 million for the prior year quarter. EBITDA for the 9-month period increased 4 percent to $68.3 million compared with $65.8 million for the same period of the prior year.
