Applica Inc. opened and quickly closed its meeting yesterday, rescheduling a vote on competing merger bids from Harbinger Capital Partners and NACCO Industries. The vote is now scheduled for Jan. 10, 2007, which will give shareholders another week to weigh the latest amended offers. On Wednesday both bidders upped their price-per-share offer to U.S. $7.75. The delay in voting also provides more time for further potential changes to the competing offers.
