The U.S. state of Vermont yesterday passed a law calling for higher energy efficiency levels for appliances sold within the state. Vermont Governor Jim Douglas also filed a proposed mid-year, U.S. $600,000 adjustment to the state energy efficiency program with the Vermont Public Service Board, as part of $5.3 million increase proposed for the next 2-1/2 years.
Governor Douglas said the $5.3 million is a 30-percent increase to the program and calls it a "commitment by Vermonters to help save energy."
