Dana Chase, Jr., chairman of Dana Chase Publications, Inc., which publishes APPLIANCE magazine, yesterday received the 2006 Chairman's Award from the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers. The Chairman's Award recognized Chase's longstanding and significant support of the appliance industry and AHAM.

The award ceremony came during the association's Annual Meeting and Chairman's Dinner, where an AHAM presentation recognized Chase for his high journalistic and business principles and a commitment to excellence bestowed on him by his father, who founded the magazine.

True to the family tradition of the company, Chase, Jr. attended AHAM with his wife Pat and son David Chase with his wife Sarah. David is now APPLIANCE magazine's president and publisher. The Chases were joined during the AHAM Chairman's Dinner by daughters Susan Chase-Korin, who is now CEO of Dana Chase Publications (DCP), and Deirdre Clingen.

Dana Chase, Jr. graduated from Ohio University in 1950 and was at work the next Sunday on the DCP staff. He served in numerous roles at DCP and became a fixture in the appliance industry. Even in semi-retirement, Chase has an active and daily involvement in DCP, including serving as editorial director.

In accepting the Chairman's Award, Chase, Jr. paid tribute to his father, describing how Dana Chase, Sr. founded DCP 62 years ago to serve the appliance industry. Chase said his father would be pleased to see that a third generation is now running the business with the same goals.

Chase, Jr. has received numerous awards, including a Lifetime Achievement award from the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Porcelain Enamel Institute. He was recognized by AHAM in 1999 for his contributions to the industry.

"We have had a wonderful, long-standing relationship with AHAM since it was founded," Chase, Jr. said. He recalled attending the very first annual meeting of the association in Chicago more than 40 years ago, with his father on the program. Chase, Jr. said he has enjoyed attending almost every AHAM meeting since then.
