Lowe's Supports Fight Against Breast Cancer Apr 26, 2006

Appliance retailer Lowe's Companies, Inc. will sell 8-inch potted pink geraniums throughout the month of May to support the fight against breast cancer. The retailer said 10 percent of the purchase price will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

"Through the Plant for the Cure program and with support from our customers, Lowe's is helping to make a difference by offering hope and improving quality of life, through the advancement of research, for the millions of men and women in our communities who have been affected by this disease," said Mike Gettler, Lowe's senior vice president of merchandising.

As part of Lowe's bi-annual Plant for the Cure program, consumers can purchase select flowers at stores throughout the U.S. during the months of May and October. Proceeds from the sales will be donated to the Komen Foundation for a minimum contribution of U.S. $250,000 in 2006.
