Matsushita Electric will launch a laptop computer that is designed to be especially water resistant. The company said the unit could even survive having a glass of water spilled in the keyboard.
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (Osaka, Japan), known for its Panasonic brand of appliances and consumer electronics, said the Let's Note CF-Y5 laptop is equipped with a waterproofing material and a drainage system to protect the hard drive and other components from water damage. In addition, the company said the laptop is hardened to withstand a force of up to 100 kg (220 pounds). It is scheduled to launch in Japan May 19 at a retail price of 265,000 yen (approx. U.S. $2,300).
