Miele
gained U.S. NSF/ANSI 3 approval for its G 7859 commercial fresh-water
dishwasher. The unit uses fresh water for every cycle, unlike most
commercial tank dishwashers that reuse water from previous cycles. The
G 7859 is engineered to provide dual-level cleaning and it reaches
185°F for 1 minute during the rinse to provide the sanitation needed to
meet NSF standards without caustic chemicals. Despite using fresh water
for every cycle, it is designed to consume little water overall—6.6 gal
per cycle. The unit can be equipped with interchangeable accessories
for dishwashing in applications such as day cares, B&B’s, small
restaurants, retirement homes, churches, wineries, etc. It has a
17-minute cycle that includes the sanitizing final rinse, making use of
a commercial-grade heating element to heat water fast. A strong
circulation pump circulates water at 106 gal/minute for enhanced
cleaning. The unit is engineered to last 15,000 operating hours, which
the producer equates to 13 years or more life expectancy when used six
hours a day, six days a week. The unit produces 65 dB freestanding; 61
dB when installed undercounter. It is designed to have a small
footprint of 24 in., allowing it to fit into a residential dishwasher
space.
