Lock Out Relays

Field-proven lock-out relays (LORs) automatically trip and lock out circuit breakers and other devices, protecting critical equipment from damaging electrical faults. The manual reset devices can be provided with or without handle-trip capability. Type WL-2 LORs are used primarily where the simultaneous operation of many contacts is required, providing reliable service in new facilities or replacing worn or failing units in older ones. Featuring a low-current magnetic trip mechanism, the units are available with nominal operating voltages ranging from 24 to 250 V dc or 120 to 480 V ac. The relays are said to be unaffected by the shock, vibration, humidity, and thermal cycling normally found in commercial operation. The trip coil in each unit is factory-wired to a coil-cutoff contact that is closed when the rotor is in the reset position. The coil’s low continuous rating (maximum 45 mA) permits sufficient current flow for monitoring without overheating the coil or tripping the unit. Options include a built-in rectifier to decrease operating time at 110 and 22O V ac where only alternating current is available for control. Type WL LOR is available with up to 10 stages, where each stage constitutes one circuit (one double series break contact) made up of two stationary contact fingers and one moving contact segment. A variety of trip coils for both dc and ac control voltages are also available. Electroswitch
