The 0402 surface mount thermistor was designed for applications such as mobile phones, hard disk drives, laptop computers, and compact disc players. Designated the NB23 Series, the negative temperature coefficient thermistors are specifically designed for temperature compensation and control applications in hand-held and portable electronics equipment. The thermistor is said to be an ideal design solution for handset manufacturers, as well as other electronics OEMs. The unit can be used as a temperature sensor for the battery pack’s charge control circuitry. The thermistors are also said to be ideal for temperature measurement on LCD displays, especially those used on high-resolution color displays. The thermistors feature resistance values from 10 K? to 100 K?, with standard tolerances of 5, 10, and 20 percent. Maximum dissipation is 150 mW, with a thermal dissipation factor of 0.8m W/°C, and a thermal time constant of 3 sec. Operating temperature range is -55°C to +150°C. AVX Corporation
