Unlike traditional pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) switches, the company says its HeatSeal® technology uses both chemicals and mechanical bonding to eliminate micro fissures and any ingression points to circuitry. By applying a shielding layer to the switch, the company says it creates a permanent seal against outside environments, protecting the electronics of the switch without additional costs. The cross-sectional electrostatic discharge (ESD) can reportedly withstand traces within 0.150-in of the edge up to 135 kV. The company says the switches can also shield from thermal stress, solvent exposure, and pressure changes.
