Thermal Ceramics Inc.’s patented line of Superwool 607® Thermal Insulation consists of high-efficiency, low bio-persistence insulation that complies with domestic and international environmental health and safety concerns. The line includes two products—Superwool 607 AG Grade (Appliance Grade) blankets designed for tighter cavity constraint requirements and Superwool 607 332-E Paper for thin, high-efficiency insulation requirements.

According to the supplier, Superwool 607 AG Grade (Appliance Grade) Blankets are inorganic (no out-gassing), 1,800°F insulating blankets designed with superior temperature use limits, low thermal conductivity, and tighter dimensional tolerance control. The low thermal conductivity of the blanket is said to minimize unit heat loss and reduce outer surface temperatures to cut energy consumption. In addition, the improved AG Grade specifications are said to assure that the insulating blankets will fit with the needs of increased cavity constraints of the appliance market, while meeting UL and CSA requirements. The blankets are available in the density range of 4-12 lbs/ft3 to provide additional levels of insulation benefit.

The company’s new Superwool 607 332-E Paper is also designed to maximize the efficiency of ovens, small cooking appliances, and range systems. The no-binder product accommodates use limits to 1,300°F with no out-gassing or scorching. According to the company, in some applications, the high efficiency and low thermal conductivity of the paper can lead to insulation improvements as high as 40 percent versus traditional fiberglass thin insulation and gasket materials. Applications include oven doors, small wall sections, and other thin internal insulation requirements.

Custom components and a cut-to-size insulation kit are also available. According to the company, the kits provide easy installation, allowing appliance OEMs to reduce labor costs in assembly. Foil facing options can also be employed with the products to reduce thermal convective forces to help maximize appliance efficiency.
