The company¹s new family of PLC-controlled robots is said to combine a high-performance SCARA robot with a PLC server that allows direct programming of the robot from the Allen-Bradley family of PLCs (PLC-5 , SLC-500, Logix™ family) through a DF-1 serial connection. According to the company, its new robot family is unique because the robots are programmed and controlled directly from the customer¹s PLC. The user simply connects the PLC server to their existing PLC and programs the robot directly from the PLC¹s native programming environment. As a result, no emulation of ladder logic is performed and no soft PLC is used‹it is direct control of the robot by the PLC.
