Utilizing a fifth generation Carrier Stored Trench Gate Bipolar Transistor (CSTBT) chip, the Powerex NFH-Series IGBT is said to provide as little as 20 percent of the turn-off switching loss when compared to competitive types. The new family of devices is available in the low inductance U-Series package, providing minimized internal package inductance. Each module consists of two IGBT transistors in a half-bridge configuration with each transistor having a reverse-connected, super-fast, recovery-free wheel diode. The series were designed for use in medical power supplies, laser power supplies, welders, induction heating, and other high-frequency power supplies. Powerex, Inc.
