Thermador's Professional Series Ranges & Cooktops

Appliance maker Thermador introduced a new line of Professional Series appliances at the 2004 Kitchen & Bath Show (K/BIS) held in April, 2004 in Chicago.

"For more than 70 years, Thermador has empowered the cooking enthusiast with kitchen appliances that combine state-of-the-art functionality with sophisticated styling," said Franz J. Bosshard, Thermador president and CEO. "We have aggressively moved to create a strong yet refined full-line Thermador kitchen with the recent introduction of our whisper-quiet refrigeration and the new Professional Series line."

The new Professional Series ranges and cooktops are said to have more advanced features for a higher standard of performance. Thermador's Star(TM) Burner is redesigned as a 3-in-1 burner, said to include 15,000 BTUs for fast boiling and high performance; star-shaped burners, and new burner cap design for even heat distribution; and the patented ExtraLow(R) simmer, which electronically cycles the flame on and off as a practical warming capability.

Thermador is also introducing new convection and electronic control systems. Based on the convection system developed for Thermador's wall ovens, the new Professional Series Range oven reportedly offers dual heating action for superbly balanced temperatures throughout the oven for faster and better full-meal cooking. In addition, Thermador's exclusive electronic control system is said to quickly respond to changes in oven temperature to ensure efficient and consistent cooking.

Thermador's new 30 in SEM/SEMW double/triple wall oven features either a microwave (SEM) or microwave/warming drawer (SEMW) combination and the new configurations come with the S Series wall oven. With a concealed bake element and heavy-duty racks, the new oven is said to offer true convection for multi-level cooking without the transfer of flavors or aromas. Sens-A-Touch(TM) digital controls are enhanced with an alphanumeric display to easily guide the user in programming an increased number of cooking modes. New features also include a temperature-controlled meat probe and a different location for the soft halogen lighting.
