Jenn-Air introduced its new cabinet-depth French Door Refrigerator at the 2004 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show (K/BIS) in April of 2004.
The refrigerator contains a pullout bottom-freezer drawer and side-by-side doors with a fresh food compartment. This feature provides wide storage spaces for both fresh food and frozen items. It also reduces the amount of space needed for the swing of the door, allowing it to fit into small kitchens and island installations.
The unit is offered with standard stainless steel and commercial-grade Pro-Style® finishes, and is also offered in exclusive floating-glass finishes in black and white. Floating-glass makes use of highly reflective glass panels attached to the refrigerator’s exterior, providing a striking and unique, but not see-through, finish. The floating glass panels extend beyond the face of the refrigerator, so screws and bolts are hidden. This allows the counter-depth refrigerator to slide fully into a cut-out, and the company says this makes it indistinguishable from a more expensive built-in model.
The refrigerators have 19.8 cubic feet of capacity, including 5.4 cubic feet of capacity in the frozen food cabinet. The French Door refrigerator will be in July. Retail prices are expected to start at approximately U.S. $2,399.
