SmartFan® Nimbus is a compact, TRIAC-based fan control designed for the HVAC, electronics, and industrial controls markets. The Nimbus can reportedly be used to automatically control nearly any single-phase a.c. fan including equipment cooling fans, ceiling fans, exhaust ventilators, duct fans, and blowers.

The Nimbus regulates fan speed from a 4-20 mA control signal, 0-10 V d.c. control signal, or up to three remote temperature sensors. Automatic voltage and frequency detection, current ratings up to 7.5 A, three mounting and connection configurations including DIN rail mount, and "4x4 job box" mount are said to make this microprocessor-based design extremely flexible and economical. The supplier says that the benefits of using the SmartFan include acoustical noise reduction, temperature regulation, greater product reliability, increased fan life, improved safety, and energy savings.
