Electrovaya Inc. said it developed the world's most mobile Tablet PC, SCRIBBLER, with about four times more computing run time than other tablet PC's.

the new Tablet PC uses Electrovaya's patented SuperPolymer™ lithium ion battery, said to have the highest energy density in the world, to provide the longest lasting power of any Tablet PC. The technology will power the unit for 10 to 16 hours depending on the applications used.

"As the only Tablet PC that offers a full day of mobility, SCRIBBLER is the only solution for much of the market. It addresses high-end consumer and vertical market sector needs," said Dr. Sankar Das Gupta, CEO of Electrovaya. "Initial research indicates that our channel partners will be eager to include SCRIBBLER in the solutions offerings to their major enterprise customers."

The tablet PC product category was designed to provide a higher level of flexibility and mobility than laptops. It runs all the applications people demand of a laptop, but offers greater portability, as well as pen and speech capabilities. The SCRIBBLER's 100 Watt hours (Wh) of run time comes from the super thin light-weight SuperPolymer™ battery instead of the standard 20-30 Wh battery.

The SCRIBBLER will also feature a removable keyboard and will be capable of simultaneous pen and keyboard use.

With its long run time and weight of less than 4 pounds, the unit is designed to be the most mobile tablet PC in the world.

The tablet PC will run Microsoft® Windows® XP Tablet PC Edition using Intel's Ultra Low Voltage Intel® Pentium® III 866MHz processor.

The SCRIBBLER will be commercially available in early November, 2002 along with other Microsoft® powered Tablet PCs.

Electrovaya is partnering with a Tier 1, a U.S. $7 billion Taiwanese firm to manufacture the SCRIBBLER.
