Apparently, compressor innovation has no boundaries—literally. |
Compressor manufacturer Embraco S.A. of Brazil recently teamed up EECON, its electronic controls division, to develop a refrigeration system for Brazilian navigator Amyr Klint for his expedition to South Georgia, Antarctica.
Mr. Klint’s sailboat, “Paratii 2,” was equipped with a refrigeration system that runs with an Embraco VCC (Variable Capacity Compressor). The unique aspect of the project, according to Embraco, is that for the first time, the electronic inverter that drives the compressor was enhanced to allow remote connection for data acquisition and reliability studies.
The ability to monitor the performance of a compressor in extreme conditions was accomplished by connecting the system via satellite using the communication interface features present in all VCC compressors developed by Embraco and EECON.
