The branded hobs and hoods market in India is small—barely 200,000 units—but Electrolux wants a share of it. |
Electrolux entered the segment hoping to cash in on the small but rapidly growing market in the metro cities, where sales are registering growth rates of nearly 25 percent.
The major growth factors are changing lifestyles, popularity of urban housing and real estate, and changing consumer demands, particularly among the affluent sections in the larger metro cities. Electrolux has launched seven models, with prices ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 (approx. $577 to $1,155). The other branded players in this segment are Faber, Kaff, and Glen. Faber is the largest brand in this segment.
Electrolux is also strengthening its distribution network for its hobs and hoods by selling the products through sanitary and electrical equipment stores. It plans to open 50 Electrolux Homes—one-point outlets offering complete appliance solutions—that will add to its strong retail network.
