By Adite Chatterjee, New Delhi correspondent, APPLIANCE magazine Voltas Ltd. is looking at selling its air-conditioners in South Africa, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka in 2005.

Accordingly, it has increased its manufacturing capacities and is projecting exports of 350,000 air-conditioner units in 2005-2006. Currently, Voltas exports its air-conditioners to the Middle East, Doha, Qatar, Dubai, and Muscat.

The company claims that it has achieved 40-percent sales growth in the first 6 months of 2004. Voltas is also test marketing new models of air-conditioners in Delhi and has beefed up its distribution network. The new initiatives, it is hoped, will contribute an additional 30-percent sales growth to the overall sales revenues of the company.
