Emerson Motor Technologies of St. Louis, MO, U.S. has introduced a new line of pump motors that reportedly offer versatility and reliability.

According to Emerson Motor Technologies, its new pump motor line contains Class F insulation-approved component parts, which possess greater thermal capacity, resulting in longer life.

Designed for use in commercial dishwashers, the pump motors contain a number of features that contribute to the product’s long life and versatility, according to the company. “The design engineer can feel confident this product line can be used almost anywhere in the world and will meet or exceed the end user’s demands for quality and long life,” says Jim Ellis, product and market manager. “These motors offer a full range of voltage and frequency combinations, which allow these motors to be used in commercial dishwashers sold in many countries.”

According to the company, a premium 303 stainless steel is used on the motor shaft for better corrosion resistance, including chemical processing applications. The pump motor also has premium double-sealed ball bearings, which reportedly provide improved water resistance and longer bearing life.

A unique rubber boot protects the switch contacts, reducing premature single-phase open, drip-proof motor failures. Mr. Ellis explains, “The boot protects the switch contacts from contaminants so that a good electrical connection can be made.” The company also used durable powder paint on the motor frame and endcover for corrosion resistance, and the motor has passed a 500-hr salt spray test.

In addition, the positive positioning snap-fit actuator is said to ensure proper alignment and long life. The product also provides a non-metallic, long-life switch arm for reliable contact point gap and wiping action, which, according to the company, never needs adjustment.

A new nameplate reportedly allows users to easily determine the electrical variable data when installing or servicing the product. “This product line also features the shortest average motor length in the industry so these motors fit in compact locations where other motors do not fit,” Mr. Ellis tells APPLIANCE. Other applications for the pump motors include commercial parts washers, commercial welders, HAC condensate units, and other HAC-related cooling pump applications.
