TT electronics BI Technologies Magnetic Components Division has developed a series of high-current, low-profile power inductors to meet the design challenges of d.c./d.c. converters and voltage regulation applications.

The surface-mount inductors are said to provide design engineers with a low-profile device with current handling capability up to 70 A. Part of the HM69 Series, the inductors are said to be a perfect fit for the height-challenged inductor sockets and reportedly allow designers to incorporate a miniature high-current inductor into assemblies where space constraints and electromagnetic interference are critical.

Based on a ferrite core structure developed exclusively for BI Technologies, the series is available in standard inductances of 25 nH up to 300 nH. The inductors are suited for use in wireless applications, PDAs, PCMCIA cards, disk drives, and general-use applications. The smallest inductor of the HM69 family measures just 6 by 5 by 3 mm and can handle currents up to 70 A. Offering a Class F insulation system, the inductors operate at temperatures ranging from -40°C to 125°C. The series also offers d.c. resistance ratings range from 0.17 to 0.56 milliohm.
