"I am dedicated to making
an extraordinary effort to meeting our clients' needs," Mr. Luecke
says. "We are in an extremely competitive
sector, and I know that we need to be at the top of our game to meet
clients' expectations or others will. This can only happen if our staff
has the
right tools, direction, and support, so I am dedicated to creating an
environment in which my staff feels empowered and motivated.
"None of us can be successful,
however, if we don't have the proper balance and support in our own
lives. This means I am devoted to my family and
friends, providing for them, helping to enrich their lives, and cherishing
those relationships," adds Mr. Luecke.
The results of Mr. Luecke's
dedication are perhaps most evident in his extensive, and impressive,
25-year career. After receiving his BA from
McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 1975, Mr. Luecke
went on to earn his MBA in Business Administration from Lehigh University
in
Bethlehem, PA, U.S., graduating in 1977.
Starting
out as a senior auditor and consultant at Ernst & Whitney,
Mr. Luecke quickly built his reputation in just 3 years, moving on
to several other respectable positions, including national health care
director at
KMG Main Hurdam, senior manager at Deloitte & Touche, and executive
vice president and COO of Saint Alexis Hospital Medical Center (Cleveland,
OH, U.S.). He joined testing and certification organization CSA Group
in 1994, serving as vice president of Administration and treasurer
of CSA
America, Inc. (Cleveland, OH, U.S.) for 6 years. He then transferred
to CSA
Group in Toronto, Canada, where he was vice president of Finance
for
2 years. In 2002, Mr. Luecke advanced to his current position - vice
president, Certification at CSA International, the largest division
of the CSA Group. Mr. Luecke is responsible
for all operational aspects of CSA International. In the last year,
he has been actively working to streamline the testing
and certification processes, while improving the division's communications
with its clients. This included reorganizing the management team. "[This]
streamlined divisional structure resulted in more expedient work processes
and faster decision-making," Mr. Luecke explains.
Even
with all of his experience, Mr. Luecke says he relies on every member
of the CSA staff to teach
him a thing or two. "The most valuable learning
experience of my career has been the discovery that everyone in the
organization has something to contribute, and something that they can
teach me," he
explains.
" Effective
two-way communications is critical. Regardless of where I travel in
the organization, from the Board Room to the shipping and receiving
dock, there are always staff [members] that have ideas as to how to
make
the organization run better, particularly those that work with our
customers closely on a daily basis. My job is to listen and act on
their ideas."
To balance his professional and personal life, Mr. Luecke enjoys playing
and attending sports with his 15-year-old son Matt and kayaking with
his wife, Dawn. |
