Steam pre-wash is now available on some SmartDispense dishwashers. Steam is used in a DeepClean cycle with SmartDispense™ II technology. The steam pre-wash helps rid dishes of difficult messes, such as starches, eggs, rice, peanut butter, and oatmeal.

GE Consumer & Industrial's latest GE Profile dishwasher uses the company's SmartDispense technology.
The technology, also used in some of its washing machines, enables the dishwasher to hold an entire 45-ounce bottle of liquid or gel detergent and dispense just the right amount for each wash based on water hardness and load soil level, saving on detergent.
According to the company, if every dishwasher in the United States could be replaced by a GE model with SmartDispense, there is the potential to save more than 750,000 tons of dishwashing detergent from being washed down the drain each year.
