Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announces a thick-film rectangular chip resistor that reportedly is designed with the industry’s smallest footprint to enable downsizing in applications where board space is critical. Packaged in an industry-standard 0201 case measuring 0.024 in (0.6 mm) by 0.012 in (0.3 mm), and with a height profile of 0.009 in (0.23 mm), the CRCW0201 chip resistor is said to be well suited for compact end products such as cellular telephones, hearing aids, and notebook computers.

The component features a power rating of 50 mW, a maximum working voltage of 30 V, and a standard TCR value of ±200 ppm/°C. The chip is said to offer a broad resistance range, including E24-range values, and a tolerance of ±5 percent. With flow-solderable terminations featuring a nickel barrier layer, the component is said to be compatible with automatic placement equipment for easy integration into compact systems. The chip incorporates a metal glaze on high-quality ceramic and a protective overglaze to improve resistance to demanding environmental conditions. It is rated for operation from -55°C to 125°C.
