The new AYU-1 Series connectors from JST Corporation are reportedly the world's smallest cable-to-board coaxial connectors. These extremely small and low profile connectors have a mounting area of 3 mm (0.118 in) x 3 mm (0.118 in) on PCB and 2 mm (0.079 in) height when mated with an applicable cable plug, reportedly resulting in significant space savings. Designed for applications operating from d.c. to 3 Ghz, these SMT connectors are suitable for high-density telecommunications equipment such as cellular phones, PDAs, and wireless data collection devices.

The connectors are said to have excellent frequency performance with a V.S.W.R. of 1.3 max. or less, existing in a frequency range from d.c. up to 3 GHz. With a 50Ω impedance rating and operating between a range of 0.045-3 GHz, the connectors reportedly offer performance comparable to that of much larger coax types. Dielectric withstanding voltage is a.c. 150 V r.m.s. and temperature range is -20° to 90°C (-4° to 194°F). Embossed tape packaging provides production efficiency via pick-and-place assembly machines.

Cable plugs are supplied as complete assemblies per customer specifications.
